Today in Tha Wire, ABC News reported Jesse Jackson spoke at a memorial service honoring the late Aretha Franklin during Sunday morning service at Detroit's New Bethel Baptist Church. As outside mourners gathered, some signed tribute posters and signs, others left flowers while, down the street, a mural of the Queen of Soul was being painted on the wall of a local business. Franklin's city is clearly grieving the loss of their music matriarch. Plans for her home going have pretty much been finalized. Detroit News reported Monday, August 20, 2018, that Franklin's publicist, Gwendolyn Quinn, announced the service details.

All events arranged by the music legend's family will be held in Detroit, Michigan. The Public Memorial Service and Viewing will be Tuesday and Wednesday, August 28-29, 2018. Open to fans and well-wishers, the two-day event will take place from 9:00am-9:00pm both days at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, located at 315 E. Warren. A third viewing was just announced, according to Detroit News, and will be 12:00pm-4:00pm, August 30 at the New Bethel Baptist Church at 8430 Linwood St.

The funeral services will be held Friday, August 31, 2018, at Greater Grace Temple, located on Detroit's west side. Quinn said this will NOT be open to the public, and will remain private. All funeral arrangements will be handled by Detroit's historic Swanson Funeral Home.

Stars around the world gave the Queen her prop-pas during live performances, like Jay and Bey during their On The Run II Tour when it stopped in Detroit.

Several cities across the nation have plans of holding tribute concerts in honor of Aretha Franklin. Showbiz411 reports Sonny Music Head, Clive Davis, announced he was teaming up with Live Nation to produce a musical tribute to Franklin's 60 years in music. "Clive Davis Presents: A Tribute to Aretha Franklin," will take place at Madison Square Garden November 14, 2018. EtOnline reports the NYC concert was in the making a couple of months before she died. Davis actually proposed the tribute to the Queen of Soul himself in June. The lineup will be star-studded, but details have not been released just yet.

Of course, the City of Detroit is doing a tribute for their music queen. Monday, Quinn announced the concert is scheduled to go down Thursday, August 30. It's not clear if that tribute will take place during the viewings, or if it'll be a separate location. More news is likely to come on all of the above.
