The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff’s Office (CPSO) continues there effort to keep citizens in our parish safe. On Friday, August 31, 2018, they will conduct a DWI checkpoint at an undisclosed location within the parish.

The checkpoint will target persons driving under the influence of alcohol and/or narcotics. These checkpoints have in the past "proven effective in discouraging citizens from driving while impaired. Individuals are more likely to designate a driver when they know sobriety checkpoints are being conducted,” said a CPSO press release.

The checkpoint is funded by a grant from the Louisiana Highway Safety Commission.
