Shooting Reported on Friday, August 31

The Lake Charles Police Department responded to a shooting on Friday, August 31, 2018, after 9 pm, in the 600 block of West 18th Street, after someone in the area reported gunshots. While officers were investigating they learned "that a person had been shot in the 600 block of Dixy Drive and taken to a local hospital", said a media release.

While investigators are still gathering more information to determine why the shooting happened, more people came forward with reports of hearing gunshots. The victim is reportedly a 16-year-old who was shot in the 600 block of Dixy Drive, who was transferred to a Lafayette hospital.
