Today in Tha Wire yesterday in Manhattan people attending a private screening for the upcoming Lifetime documentary film series, Surviving R. Kellyhad to be evacuated. YES, Lifetime is gearing up to premiere a 3-day series, based on years of sexual abuse allegations made against R&B legend R. Kelly.

HipHopDX reports the film was produced by renowned journalist, Dream Hampton, who examines the embattled R&B singer’s alleged sexual crimes over the years, while his accusers tell their stories of abuse. Hampton's doc will include people from the stars inner circle coming forward to make new allegations. Wow! Kels can't be happy about this at all. Be on the lookout fam, Surviving R. Kelly will make its debut on Lifetime on January 3, 2019 at 8PM CT.

The private screening took place at the NeueHouse Madison Square building, Tuesday night (December 4.) About 25 minutes into the film, police walked in telling attendees they had to leave the building immediately.  NYPD said they received a threat on the building by an anonymous caller.

It's still unclear as to whether it was a gun or bomb threat. According to HipHopDX an attendee told them, "He apparently called into NeueHouse multiple times, like 20, and called in gun threats.” HE...meaning R. Kelly. The Pied Piper is being blamed for the call, and trying to shut the event down. Of course, there's no proof of that, but a lot of people on the scene are saying they think he had something to do with it because the timing of the threat was a little too coincidental.

As authorities track the origin of the call, Josh Wyatt CEO for NeueHouse, released the statement below to explain what happened. Thankfully no one was hurt and as it turned out the threat was a hoax.

Though R. Kelly has made no public statement in reference to the film, he can't be thrilled with the fact that it's coming out. It's bound to have an incredibly damaging effect on what's left of his career. I guess that's the point though. Among the special guests in attendance were #MuteRKelly supporters, Me Too founder Tarana Burke, his ex-wife Andrea Lee, several survivors, The  Breakfast Club's Angela Yee, $OscarsSoWhite founder April Reign and Lifetime executive producer Brie Miranda Bryant.

Looks like 2019 gonna start with a bang! Heaven, this brotha might need a hug after all this. Below peep the reactions from those who were at the event:
