This is my take on things here since I have been living in Lake Charles. Everyone has their own opinion and you are more than welcome to jump in with some additional suggestions if you would like to. I'd love to hear what you have to say and offer to my post.

I Love The Zydeco Culture in Lake Charles

When I first moved here in 2001, I can say that when I first moved here I had never heard of Zydeco music or a trail ride or Chicken Run. This has become part of life for me here. Over the years anytime I invite someone to the area. I make sure they hear some of the music and indulge in the lifestyle even for just a little while

I Love The Drive-Thru Daiquiri's Here In Lake Charles!

I am not promoting drinking and driving, but having several locations where you can get yourself a daiquiri for the night or even a gallon for a few friends to come over. There is nothing better than having this at your reach. Whether it's splurging out on a flavor that you have never had or the old faithful Strawberry Daiquiri, you can almost find a drive-thru daiquiri spot anywhere in Lake Charles.

I Love Louisiana Foods and no one is better than Lake Charles!

Being a transplant from Lake Charles, I love the food here. The first time I tried a few things it was very spicy, but my tastebuds have finally caught up and I am loving every minute of it. From Boudin, Gumbeaux to Crawfish. You can't go wrong with some of the good food that they serve here.

Mardi Gras In Lake Charles Is An Experience For All

Things have changed due to the 2 Hurricanes that we have had ravish our city. Along with losing several thousands of people who have had to move to other places. But during its hay day, Mardi Gras was a site, especially for a person like me who not only got to experience Mardi Gras for the first time but was literally riding in a Mardi Gras parade when I first moved here.

The comradery of Lake Charles residents is second to none

After we had Hurricanes Laura and Delta, the way everyone rallied around one another was something to be seen. Regardless of Race or what site of the city we lived on. Everyone came out and worked to clean up debris, pass out or even collect food for the workers and local residents who were without power, water, and many a home.

The Tag Decals are a lot cheaper here than back home

One of the very first things that I noticed when I bought my first car here was how cheap it would be to get a Tag Decal. This may not mean a lot to many of you who are from here, but for me, I couldn't believe how cheap it was and knowing that if I would have bought a brand new vehicle in Mississippi, the price would have been that for the mortgage of a new home or 2. Trust me the taxes in Mississippi are really that high and ridiculous.

There are several Locally Owned Restaurants to patronize!

Lake Charles has some of the best local eateries in the area. Whether it's Pujo Street Cafe, Steamboat Bill's, Leonards, or Pat's Of Henderson which unfortunately is closed at the moment, they have some of the best food this side of the Mississippi River. The family-owned establishments here have great service and even better food for everyone local or visitors to enjoy.

You Can't Get Lost In Lake Charles If You're Trying To Find A Place

For visitors and even for myself I didn't think that I would be saying this but you really can't get lost here in Lake Charles. It could simply be an issue of an address not being visible enough or that business no longer being in that location. But Lake Charles while still growing some is not hard to maneuver around if you are trying to get somewhere. Sure the traffic can be a hassle at certain times of the day, but depending on where you are going. You almost don't need the GPS to get to your destination.
