The Fourth of July holiday is fast approaching and the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury has already announced their plans as far as closures and trash collection, and now the city of Lake Charles has followed suit.

Officials in Lake Charles said City Hall and the Department of Public Works will be closed for business this Friday, July 3 and will reopen on Monday July 6.

They also told us all recycling operations which are located throughout the city will be closed on Saturday. The Nelson Ball Field/Alma Ln, Wood Waste Facility, and Roving Green Truck will be closed on Saturday, July 4. They will reopen with their regular hours on Monday, July 6.

As far as trash and garbage collection for residents who live in the city limits of Lake Charles, there will be no interruption of services. Your trash and garbage will be collected on your usual day.

However, the city reminds residents to make sure to have your trash cans out by the road no later than 7:00am on the day of scheduled pick up or put it out the night before to ensure your trash gets picked up.
