While dealing with the coronavirus, we are all having a little cabin fever. When I pass by the I-10 beach, I can see people enjoying the water or just strolling the beach with their kids. There are many who are walking Lakeshore while trying to relieve a little pressure.

Well, one of my favorite events, Downtown at Sundown, is also having to make some adjustments to the yearly event we all look forward to. Obviously, to abide by the guidelines put in place with the COVID-19 pandemic this year, the event will hold its first-ever virtual concert which will be live-streamed from multiple downtown locations.

The event will take place on May 15 and will feature performances from Rusty Metoyer and The Zydeco Crush along with The Casey Peveto Band. It's going to be shown on pushvenue.com and Facebook.

Mayor Nic Hunter states:

"Downtown at Sundown is one of the most anticipated events each year. It’s vital to supporting local musicians, artists, restaurants and nonprofits. We are committed to protecting the health of our community, and as difficult as it is to suspend this popular annual music series, we feel it is in the best interest of the public. We are looking forward to leveraging technology to offer a virtual alternative on May 15. We’re also working with local organizations on alternative ways to support our local artists and restaurants that benefit from the event’s success.”

I am very interested to see how this will turn out for this year, and I recommend that you take a little time and enjoy the festivities, even if it's from your front yard.
