Drake & Big Freedia Hook-Up In NOLA For “In My Feelings” Video – Tha Wire

Today in Tha Wire, Drake is killin' the game with his 5th studio LP, Scorpion. So far, the double-disc album has seven singles out, and all of them are landed in the Top 10 according to Billboard. Drizzy's new project definitely has the hit factor, and being that the album has 25 tracks, it's very likely he'll chart a few more. Taking a dig from the wax era, the LP has an A Side and a B Side. The first disc is straight Hip Hop, while Disc 2 is a fly mixture of R&B and Pop joints.

October's Very Own is dominating all the music streaming services and Hot 100 charts around the globe right now. Two tracks on the album are getting extra play and love in Louisiana because they showcase the state's legendary Bounce Music. Of course, anytime Lauryn Hill vocals are present on a song, it's guaranteed to be a hit. However, L-Boogie wasn't the only reason Nice For What shot to #1.

It was the Bounce on the track! Co-produced by legendary Bounce producer, BlaqNmilD, with the addition of samples from Big TymerHot Boy, Mannie Fresh and performance clips from NOLA's Queen of Bounce, Big Freedia, the song blew-up. It also became Drake's second #1 in two countries, behind God's Plan. Next came In My Feelings. Still a bounce joint, but combined with the M.I.A sound of the City Girls. The 5th single off Drizzy's LP is another NOLA inspired banger!

With more production from BlaqNmilD featuring samples for the late New Orleans Bounce raptress Magnolia Shorty, Young Money legend Lil Wayne and the late Static Major, the track is fire. So what is Bounce all about? For that, who better to explain than Big Freedia?

Oddly enough, Freedia has lent her voice to countless songs, yet is rarely seen in the videos. What's up wit that? Fans definitely noticed that the Bounce Queen was absent in the visuals on Beyonce's Formation and Drake's Nice For What. Of course, Freedia would've loved to have made the video. In a recent interview with FADER, she said, “You know, my voice be on a lot of different stuff and people want to use bounce music as a part of their music, but when it comes to the proper recognition of me being in the video, that’s something that we’re steady working towards to make it happen.”

Freedia has always been humble about her fame, and has nothing but love for the Queen Bey. When asked about why she's missing from the Formation video, she said, “The credits are important but, for me, it’s still putting New Orleans on the map and I’m happy with the check." Freedia told FADER her rise to fame was anything but easy. She opened up about her career, being gay, and how she really feels about being used for her vocals.

HotNewHipHop reports Big Freedia is finally getting some long overdue props thanks to Drake. Drizzy was in New Orleans to shoot his new music video for In My Feelings, and gave Freedia a well-deserved feature! Not only that, but Drake put-on IG Comedian/dancer, Shiggy, who's responsible for the In My Feelings Challenge. It all started when he posted a video of him dancing to Drizzy's song on his IG page, TheShiggyShow. Now everybody, including stars all over the world, are #DoTheShiggy KekeDoYouLoveMe! Yes, even Drake!

Gotta love it! Shiggy's video has gone viral and earned him a major shine in Drake's new video, as well. As they say, "a star is born." Speaking of which, TheSource.com reports Drake is going with the same director for Nice For What, God’s Plan, and I’m Upset, Canadian music video director, actress, and writer, 22-year-old Karena Evans.  In My Feelings will also feature acting diva, Lala Anthony, as Keke!
