Yesterday was very eerily similar to what we dealt with last year. Ironically, it happened in New Orleans on the anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. We all watched the news and saw devastation go through the city and it seemed almost like a repeat of Hurricane Katrina, We also know that during these times everyone from NBC to Fox News and The Weather Channel is rushing to the place of devastation to be the first person with the most intriguing videos of the devastation. Sure we have storm chasers who live for moments like this and while it's kinda sad, this is their moment to shine.

I have no problems with the newscasters who will come and truly get the meat of the story. The ones who are genuine and want to tell the truth and not embellish things for ratings. I have been in the media for years now and lying to get results is just not something I would do. I came across this video of a newscaster in New Orleans and from the video, it seemed like he was taking a pretty good pounding from the wind. However, if you watch it to the end, you'll notice people walking by with no effects from the weather at all. You have to see this clip, through the pain, sometimes you have to laugh. This clip had me laughing but honestly in shame for doing so.

What these people in Jefferson Parish had to deal with was truly disheartening and what's the outcome. There will be some coverage and conversations, but just like us when the cameras shut off. The city is left to rebuild on what it once had. I know there is nothing that I can do to stop this from going on, but we need to stop sensationalizing trauma. Many of these people who come down for the big story are able to go back to their plush homes or job and have not a worry in the world. Unfortunately, many of us don't have that leisure. As a matter of fact, we are anxiously awaiting the end of Hurricane season so we can once again deal with the pandemic alone.
