Today in Tha Wire, HotNewHipHop reports Aretha Franklin's funeral has officially begun today. Thousands of fans will travel to Detroit this week to pay their respects to the late music icon. Mourners reportedly started showing up hours before doors opened at 9 am at the Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History, where her body is on display.

TMZ reports the Queen of Souls open casket will be available for public for the next few days. The viewing will take place today and Wednesday, and the memorial is scheduled to go down on Thursday. As no surprise the memorial will be a soulful, star studded event featuring performances by The Four Tops, Gladys Knight & The Pips, The Isley Brothers, and many others. Friday August 31, 2018 at 10 am, Franklin's funeral will take place at Detroit's Greater Grace Temple. This will be limited to just family and friends, artists like Stevie Wonder, and Jennifer Hudson are said to be performing at the service.

Aretha Franklin will then be entombed alongside her father, Rev. C.L. Franklin; brother, Cecil Franklin; sisters, Carolyn Franklin, Erma Franklin, and nephew Thomas Garrett, at Woodlawn Cemetery in Detroit. The Queen of Soul leaves behind four children -- Clarence, 63, Edward, 61, Ted, 54, and Kecalf, 48. Her estate, according to ET, is reportedly worth $80 million. Shockingly enough, ET reports they obtained document that the music icon had no will or trust in place.

According to Michigan law her kids will inherit everything. A motion filed by her four children Clarence, 63, Edward, 61, Ted, 54, and Kecalf, 48 Tuesday August 20, 2018, Franklin's kids will divide her estate evenly.

The Queen of Soul was working on a variety of projects, including a new album, and biopic based upon her life. I have know doubt, her children will see all these things and more come to fruition. R.I.P. Aretha Franklin.
