The Louisiana Passenger Safety Task Force, Louisiana State Police Troop D (LSP), and the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office will join together to host a free child safety seat check in DeRidder at Green Chevrolet, 307 East First Street this Saturday, August 10, from 10:00am - 1:00pm.

Nationally certified safety technicians will be on-site to make sure child seats are properly installed at no charge. Parents and caregivers should take this opportunity to ensure, without penalty, child seats are in compliance with the new state law that took effect on August 1, according to an LSP media release.

Child safety seats and booster seats, when used properly, save lives. They offer the best protection for children in the event of a crash. During the past 30 years, nearly 9,000 lives have been saved by the use of child restraints according to the U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA). It is important caregivers ensure children are properly restrained in an appropriate child safety seat, booster seat, or seat belt – every trip, every time.

Anyone who can't make it to the event to have their child safety seat inspected can make an appointment for an inspection with the Louisiana State Police Troop D, 337.491.2519, or the Beauregard Parish Sheriff's Office, 337.460.5443.
