The recent ice storm not only made our lives come to a screeching halt, it also disrupted blood donations, resulting in emergency level shortages.

Local non-profit organization, Vitalant, will have buses all across SWLA this week collecting blood to help stabilize their local blood banks.

Here are their remaining donation locations and schedule:

Today:

  • College Oaks Rec Center: 10:00am - 6:00pm
  • South Beauregard High School: 8:00am - 2:00pm

Tomorrow:

  • Henry Heights Rec Center: 10:00am - 6:00pm
  • Stine Lumber: 10:00am - 6:00pm
  • Wiley McMillian Community Center: 10:00am - 6:00pm

Vitalant will accept all blood types for donation. However, they are in critical need of Type O blood.

Donor Recruitment Representative for Vitalant, Brittany Simon, told KPLC they will be offering free COVID-19 antibody testing to anyone who donates, a Vitalant goodie bag, and a gift card for free delivery with Waitr.

Please do your part to help save someone with the gift of blood. You never know when you, a friend, or a family member might need it to save your life.
