Louisiana is known for its food. Depending on what part of the state you are in will depend on the type of Louisiana food you will get. In the Southwest and South Central parts of Louisiana where Lafayette and Lake Charles are, you predominately get real authentic Cajun food.

New Orleans has more of a Creole-type food and up North Louisiana well,,, let's just face it, you are rolling the dice if you're hoping to get authentic Cajun food.

When we are talking about Cajun food we are talking about things like gumbo, Jambalaya, etouffee, meat rice and gravy, and a Couvillion. Most of these dishes were learned to be cooked at home and people have taken these recipes from their ancestors to feed their families for hundreds of years and also have opened up great authentic Louisiana restaurants.

Now we all know that Louisiana is also known for its seafood. Hot Boiled Crawfish, grilled fried or boiled shrimp and also fresh oysters and fish. These are all staples of the Louisiana culture and are served weekly at home and in our Louisiana Cajun restaurants.

I mean they are our neighbors to the West but how much could they really know about our food?
