Yesterday morning while sitting in the radio studio, I received a call from a listener and friend who said she had something for me. I was like uh ok lol. She said she was going to stop by the studio to drop it off.

Once she arrived here at the Townsquare Media studios in Lake Charles, she called me and told me she was here so I walked outside to meet her. She handed me this box that was taped up and said not to open it until she left.

Once she left, I opened the box to see 10 yellow rubber ducks in the box. These ducks were unique though. Before I describe them let me tell you what they are for. Russ Conrad known as Buddy Russ loved Jeeps and he owned one himself. He was also a member of the Seven Slots Society Jeep Club here in Southwest Louisiana.

So you may be asking what's the deal with the duck, Mike? Well, Jeep owners get these ducks and when they see other Jeeps and Jeep owners, they Duck them! They leave the duck on the door handle or on the windshield. It's like a badge of honor and Jeep owners collect them or pass them along.

The listener named Kim had read a story I did a while back about ducking Jeeps which got her thinking about Russ and how he loved Jeeps so she took it upon herself to make a Buddy Russ duck and she wrote this note to explain why.

The duck is complete with Russ's signature black cowboy hat and a long beard. It also has gold on it which was Russ's favorite color and the roses represent his favorite jacket that is pictured below.

She even added a tag with a quote from Russ.

Such a fitting tribute to our buddy who we lost to cancer back in March. Thank you, Kim, we love this!
