Someone in Katy, Texas is enjoying an extra $1 million today after they claimed their prize in the Powerball drawing from late last month.

The unnamed lucky lottery player claimed exactly $1,000,004 when they won the second tier top prize from the Powerball drawing held on January 29, 2024. (In addition to the million dollar prize, they won an another $4 on their ticket.)

The winner, who chose to remain anonymous, purchased their winning ticket from the Cinco Ranch Express store located at 2950 S Mason Road in Katy.

The winning ticket was Quick Pick and it had all five numbers drawn correctly except for the coveted Powerball. Had they had that number right as well, they would have won a cool $348 million in the grand prize jackpot.

This continues a nice stretch for Texas lottery players. Just last week, on Valentine's Day, a San Antonio resident notched a cool $1 million off of a Powerball ticket they purchased at a Q Food Mart on the Southside.

The Texas Lottery's Mega Millions game also paid out handsomely a few weeks ago. A Longview resident claimed a $2 million Mega Millions prize on January 29.

How much are the current jackpots?

The Powerball jackpot is up to an estimated $348 million. The next drawing will take place on Wednesday, February 21 at 9:59 pm.

The jackpot for the Mega Millions drawing is even bigger at a whopping $525 million. Their next drawing takes place this Friday, February 23 at 10:00 pm.
