Lake Charles Inaugural Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day
Who can resist those adorable Halloween costumes they put in the center of every aisle at pet stores (so that you can't avoid them)? Not me! I bought two of the cutest costumes for my American Bull Terriers and need a place to bring them so they could strut their stuff.
Imagine my excitement when I found out about the Inaugural Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day going on this weekend in Downtown Lake Charles! It all takes place from 2 pm to 4 pm, on Saturday, October 22 at Bark Du Lac Dog Park (111 West Pine Street). This spooktacular event is being presented by The City of Lake Charles and Gill Bright Animal Hospital and will be full of tail-waggin', barking fun for the whole family to enjoy.
The City and Gill Bright collabo will feature the best doggy Halloween Costume Contest. Owners are urged to wear their favorite costumes as well. Plus, awards will be handed out to the winners of three categories: Look-A-Like, Best Dressed, and Most Tricks. This would also be the perfect time to give a deserving homeless pet a forever home. Calcasieu Parish Animal Services will be on hand to host an adoption initiative at the event as well.
If you've been tempted to buy your doggy/cat/pet a Halloween costume, go for it! Join fellow animal lovers like myself, Downtown for the first Howl-O-Ween Doggie Dress-Up Day in Lake Charles this Saturday. There will be plenty of food, music, a children's play area, and a host of other fun activities for everyone.
Please be a responsible owner - All dogs must be on a leash, be non-aggressive, be up-to-date on shots, and not in heat. Owners are expected to clean up after their dogs, so please bring plenty of baggies in case of mistakes. For details call the Lake Charles Recreation & Parks Department at (337) 491-1280.
