A shooting on Saturday night leaves one Lake Charles man dead, and a second victim with a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

The Lake Charles Police Department responded to a shooting on Saturday, October 20, at about 11:35 pm, in the area of 5th Ave and Lilly Street, said a media release. When officers arrived they found the victim, a black male identified as Elgin Green, 35, of Lake Charles, with multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital where he died due to the injuries sustained during the shooting. A second victim was also shot, but was transported to a local hospital by private means with a non-life threatening injury.

Investigators determined that Green and the second victim were "involved in an altercation inside a vehicle at the intersection of 5th Ave and Lilly Street. Both victims got out of the vehicle and were shot."

After further investigation it was determined that Jeremiah Elijahjuan Ellis, 21, of Lake Charles was responsible for Green’s death. He was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree murder. A warrant was issued for his arrest, and hit bond is set at $200,000.
