In 2019, the LSU football team had a dream season, going 15-0 and winning the college football national championship. Not only did they accomplish all that, but Joe Burrow also won the Heisman Trophy, coach Ed Orgeron won coach of the year, and many other players took home some hardware.

Now the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles (OMV) has just released a new LSU license plate for fans to purchase for Louisiana residents who want to display it proudly on their vehicles. In the past, a couple of other regular LSU plates were issued, with one of them having the tiger stripes on them.

The new plate is all purple and has the championship logo located on the left side of the plate, with your tag number just to the right. So the question is, when will it be available for purchase?

Well, good news because it became available to LSU fans last Monday, February 8, and here is how to get yours. Due to COVID-19, the OMV is encouraging folks to purchase the plate online. Log onto www.expresslane.org and complete the process there.

Mail the necessary documents to the OMV Specialized Vehicle Unit with your envelope addressed to the attention of the Specialized Vehicle Unit, Office of Motor Vehicles, P.O. Box 64886, Baton Rouge, LA 70896. OMV will mail the plate to the customer after processing.

If you are one of those instant gratification folks, you can go the the OMV offices in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Livingston, Monroe, Shreveport, Slidell, or Thibodaux. There could also be some public tag agent locations in your area to snag one from.

In Lake Charles, you will have to check with our public tag agent locations to see if they have the plate. Get yours today and display it proudly, Tiger fans.
