The governor has extended the stay-at-home order til May 15. However, there are some businesses that have been opened with alternative schedules.

As part of the governor's requirements for businesses to reopen, the Calcasieu Parish Police Jury will begin accepting mask requests from Calcasieu Parish businesses for cloth masks. The masks will be donated by the Hanes Corporation. This will coincide with Governor John Bel Edwards' revised stay-at-home order, which requires employees who may come in contact with the public to wear a mask at all times.

If your business is in need of mask, you may contact the Police Jury at 337-721-4027 or by emailing recoverymask@calcasieuparish.gov beginning Friday, May 1 from 8:00am through 5:00pm. This will continue until Wednesday, May 6 at noon. The masks will be distributed at the following locations: The Seed Center 4310 Ryan Street, Lake Charles and West Cal Event Center 401 Arena Road, Sulphur.

The masks are being distributed to Calcasieu Parish Businesses including financial institutions and faith-based and non-profit organizations. Keep in mind that when you call or email, you must supply the following information:

  • Name and Address of Business
  • Point of Contact with Phone number
  • Number of employees who come in contact with the public
  • Number of masks they are requesting
  • Type of business/description

However, requests might not be granted in full, depending on availability. We are all wanting things to get back to normal and with these measures put in place, I think we are almost there.
