At a press conference yesterday, Mayor Nic Hunter discussed how Lake Charles is faring after two hurricanes blasted the city last year.

Residential debris removal is still going on in Lake Charles. Mayor Hunter said that if residents in the city limits have debris to be picked up, call 337-491-1346 to report it for crews to remove it.

Commercial debris removal ends later this month on February 12. Debris should be moved as close as possible to the side of the road without being a hazard.

Mayor Hunter also said city employees will soon begin driving around the city to pinpoint areas that need debris removal and cleanup. They'll also be looking for damaged signs and utility lines. He also asked Lake Charles residents to report damages and clean up opportunities by calling 337-491-1346 or emailing mal@cityoflc.us.

Operation #SpringCleanLC will begin in March. They city is seeking volunteers to help pick up litter and small debris around the city. For more information on how you or your group can participate, call 337-491-9147.
