Old Ryan’s Steak House Turned Mexican Restaurant Now Has a Name
For the last year, work has been done on the old Ryan's Steak House on Ryan Street. At one time, the buffet was the hot spot for after-church meals, and when you want to wear stretchy pants after eating entirely too much. The pandemic shut down the buffets, and Hurricane Laura did the rest.
Work started on the transition over a year ago, and only a small vinyl sign stood off to the side saying the name of the new place. Now, the entire building has just about been complete on the outside with a HUGE facelift to give it more of a "Spanish" theme on the outside. The entire time I have been driving by it, all I could think is how huge this place is going to be when it opens up. Ryan's was GIANT inside. This seems that it will be the 8th location in Louisiana with others in Slidell, Alexandria, Lafayette, and others. They also have a location in Mississippi and 5 in Florida. So what is Pedro's?
According to their website, the place is designed to bring you an experience the moment you walk in. They consider themselves to be a Mexican/American eatery and feature classic dishes with a modern-Mexican twist. The menu is VAST and so is the collection of tequila options they have to offer, I counted 30 just on the menu alone. Of course, they offer traditional Margaritas but also a few options of Sangria ones and various flavors too. The food menu seems to be 3 or 4 pages long, so one would assume you will indeed find something you like. If you don't, just drink more tequila!
It does seem like the other places offer more than just food and drinks. I saw ads for Karaoke nights and live music throughout the week. So that would be a neat addition to your experience while there. The other places also offer happy hour and daily drinks specials as well. There is still no clue as to when it will open, but I would have to think it would be fairly soon as they finish up the outside of the building.
