Former Lake Charles Police Chief, Don Dixon will be laid to rest today. Dixon served the greater Lake Charles area for roughly 17 years. He was head of the Lake Charles Police Department until his retirement in 2019. Dixon began his career in law enforcement as an FBI agent at the age of 24. He would work with the FBI for 26-years before becoming Chief of Police.

Christmas Day, Calcasieu Parish Sheriff Tony Mancuso announced Dixon had passed away. He was 70. Mancuso said,

“It is with a heavy heart and great sadness that my friend and colleague, Don Dixon, has passed away.” He continued. “It was an honor to have served alongside him in this great profession. He truly cared about the well-being of everyone and touched countless lives in our community, as an FBI agent and as our former chief of police.”

According to Johnson Funeral Home (4321 Lake Street) home going services are as follows:

· Visitation: 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church (1800 Country Club Rd.) in the main sanctuary.

· Funeral Services: 1:30 p.m. at Trinity Baptist Church also in the main sanctuary.
