State Fire Marshal to Golden Nugget: That’s Strike Two

According to the Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), they received several reports of overcrowding at Golden Nugget's pools and swim-up bars. Since then, they've found the casino/resort was in violation of state-mandated regulations regarding the COVID-19 pandemic in at least two inspections.

KPLC 7 reports OSFM Public Affairs Director, Ashley Rodrigue, said the inspections were brought about after their office received reports of crowded pools and swim-up bars. According to Rodrique, they did at least two inspections with violations, but stated that doesn't mean there would be punitive action should another violation occur. Further penalties would depend on the frequency and severity of a violation.

Gregory Hennagin, Golden Nugget General Manager, confirmed that since the last inspection, they are working to address the problem. The casino and the OSFM are training employees on the proper social distancing procedures to ensure they keep themselves and resort customers safe.

To solve overcrowding, the Golden Nugget takes a headcount at the pool every hour. The area is only open to hotel guests, and they must have on a wristband. The Golden Nugget pool area must maintain 50% capacity, so they take a headcount of guests every hour to ensure the resort meets the state-ordered mandate.
