The City of Lake Charles has announced the return of its popular free Teen Connection sessions for local teenagers, ages 13 to 18. This semesters series will wrap up with a session on How to Choose a College Major, from 5:00pm to 6:00pm, as the City partners with Ward 3 Recreation to host it at Ward 3 Huber Park Community Center, located at 2401 4th Avenue.

According to a media release, selecting a college major is one of the most stressful decision high school students face. The amount of available options "can be very overwhelming". This latest session hopes to help students explore their options for a college major.

In October 2017, the City of Lake Charles began hosting the free Teen Connection seminars for teenagers, 13 to 18 years old, in Calcasieu Parish. Teen Connection is designed to help teenagers learn job skills, college prep, social media, interview skills, and ACT prep among others. The classes are instructed by educators, government officials, and business leaders in the community. - City of Lake Charles

How to Choose a College Major will wrap up this semesters Teen Connection series until it returns for the spring semester on Thursday, January 9, with a session titled Be Your Own Boss: Start Your Own Business. There will be additional sessions that focus on careers in technology, unique, relatively unknown jobs, financial literacy, and more.
