THANK YOU! Townsquare Media Food Drive a Huge Success
After being postponed for a few weeks, we were finally able to have our first Food for Thought food drive for the kids of Calcasieu Parish Schools. After we learned that 30% of CPSB students sometimes only get one meal a day, their school lunch, we knew we needed to try and help. We teamed up with Dewanna's Closet and Sale Street Baptist Church to try our best to collect non-perishable food items for these kids.
We, along with our sister station 107 Jamz, went out Saturday morning from 9a-1p at the Market Baskets on Lake Street and also on 3rd Ave and began our plea for donation items. Not only did the SWLA area show up with food, but they showed up big time with food AND cash donations. We decided that if you brought any donation, we would blast your name on the radio for being a supporter of such an amazing cause to help the kids of Calcasieu Parish. We would like to specifically thank the following people that donated at the Market Basket on Lake Street.
- Margaret Saltzman
- Volkswagen of Lake Charles
- Paul and Anita Brown
- Michael Pershing
- Elevated Edge in Ragley
- Lynn Berryhill
- Tony Trahan
- Larry Daigle
- Karen Yoder and Patsy
- John Ware of KPLC
- The Mosquito Hunter
- Clara Taylor
- Danny and Lisa Simpson
- Pro Rental Sales and Service
- Southside Machine Works - Mike
- D and D Custom Services
- Ashley
- Dawn and Chris Hebert
- Brandy Sonnier
- Deanne Armentor
- Troy Turner
- Lee's Flooring
- Jacob Hathaway
We cannot thank you enough for your support and for taking time out of your day to make a donation. We know a lot of our listeners were busy getting ready for the McNeese LSU game, but we consider our first drive a huge success. The cash donations alone for Gator were just over $700! When combined with what 107 Jamz took in, we were just shy of $1000 and we filled over 18 moving boxes full of food to donate. Thank you once again from the bottom of our hearts here at Townsquare Media, and we cannot wait to do this event again real soon.
