Two male victims were shot in Lake Charles during a home invasion on Saturday, August 25, at approximately 2:30 am, in the 3500 block of McKinley Street. Luckily, both victims were taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The suspects were reportedly armed with handguns and forced themselves into the home and stole money and personal items. They shot the victims when they resisted the robbery.

Through further investigation, LCPD detectives learned that Deonta Wheeler, 18, and Russell Gordon, 17, committed the robbery and shooting. A warrant was issued by a judge and LCPD SWAT Team members located and arrested Wheeler shortly after. Both men are charged with attempted first-degree murder and their bonds are $750,000 each. Gordon was located and arrested in Tarrant County, Texas where he awaits extradition back to Louisiana.

As the investigation continues there could be more arrests to come.
