United Way of SWLA has once again teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Lake Charles to make sure no one in our community goes hungry during the COVID-19 crisis. Today from 11:00am to 1:00pm, they will be giving away groceries in front of the Prien Lake Mall (496 W Prien Lake Road). A lot of love went into the selection of food being distributed today because each bag contains healthy, nutritious foods that include proteins, veggies, and fruits.

You don't need money, any paperwork, or have your name on a list. Just pull up or walk up and collect a free bag of groceries for your family. The food will be distributed while supplies last on a first come-first served basis and it's one bag of food per car. To prevent contact and practice social distancing, the food is being distributed curbside for everyone's safety. Volunteers will place the food in your trunk or back seat.

If you or someone you know is in need of food services and access to community resources, the local food bank can help. For meal delivery services or other public benefit programs like WIC and SNAP, call 211 or TEXT 898-211 for help.
