Vice President Kamala Harris Visits Sunset, LA.

Vice President Kamala Harris arrived in St. Landry Parish today to visit with residents in the town of Sunset, LA. Vice POTUS Harris was originally scheduled to visit Louisiana a few weeks ago but was forced to postpone her trip due to Russia's invasion of Ukraine. The purpose of her visit today was to talk to residents about President Joe Biden's investment to connect rural areas across the country to the worldwide web.

President Joe Biden's Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was signed into law on Nov. 6, 2021. Work is now underway across the nation to give America a long-overdue facelift on roads, bridges, ports, rail transit, safe water, the power grid, broadband internet, and much more. VP Harris came to explain how the President's new law will affect us, what to expect, and more importantly how and when the administration is going to provide affordable, accessible broadband in rural areas like Sunset.

Joining the Vice President was Gov. John Bel Edwards, Senior Advisor to President Cedric Richmond, and Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves are scheduled to be in attendance. Before addressing the community, local and state leaders took time to acknowledge it was a long time coming. That broadband and high-speed internet are essential in today's world, especially for students learning from home and businesses large and small.
