Current Louisiana Governor, Democrat John Bel Edwards will face Republican challenger Eddie Rispone on November 16, 2019. Edwards is hoping for a second term and needed 50% of the vote to win the October 12 election outright. He only got 47%, and was forced into a runoff with Rispone who received 27% ( 4% more than his Republican challenger Ralph Abraham who picked up 23%) and is hoping replace him in the high stakes election.

All 105 seats in the Louisiana House of Representatives are up for election in 2019. Republican candidates won 64% of the votes, while Democrats got 33% in the Saturday October 12 election. Heading into the November 16 election, Republicans are 7 seats away in the Senate from getting the 70 seats they need to have a supermajority in the Louisiana House of Representatives.

According to The Advocate in Baton Rouge, with a supermajority, Republicans would have the power to override a veto to stop Gerrymandering by Gov. Edwards. As always voters will determine how this all plays out. The following are deadline and dates of interest for the November 16 election per ballotpedia.org:
