Regardless of what side of the fence you are on when it comes to politics, I am all good with you as long as you are voting. If you don't realize right now that voter suppression is truly real, all you have to do is look at your own back yard.

On November 3, there will only be three polling places for what is expected to be thousands who will come out to vote. Some of these will be for the first time and others are just following their regular call of duty.

That is why it is truly important you get out early and vote. You currently have until Tuesday, October 27 to get out there and vote early. These are the current locations on where you can vote for Calcasieu Parish.

  • Lake Charles – Lake Charles Civic Center Exhibition Hall
  • Moss Bluff – Calcasieu Parish Library
  • Sulphur -  Sulphur Law Enforcement Building

The wonderful thing about it is you will also be able to vote on Saturday. The hours to do so are from 8:00am until 7:00pm, and you should have a valid driver's license or picture ID when you go. You should not wait until the last minute, as you will surely be detoured from the long line and some people simply are not able to get the time off they will need to allotted to vote on this day.

My brother took my mother to vote last week. She is ninety years old and just as excited to vote as she was the first time she was given the right. Grab all of your friends and make sure you encourage them to vote. If you don't like the way things are going, be that change.
