This year, Halloween truly is falling on a weekend. However, it's felt like a horror movie for those around the world and us since February. As the city is still under construction and with the rise of COVID-19 in so many places, many are wondering how Halloween will play out this year.

Well , the city of Lake Charles is giving out information for Halloween safety recommendations for local residents. There is still plenty of debris in the city and several street lights are still not working. With this in mind, the city is asking that trick-or-treating activities end at 6:00pm.

If you are wondering how to trick-or-treat during the pandemic, it is recommended that you follow the guidelines below.

  • Avoid direct contact with trick-or-treaters
  • Give out treats outdoors, if possible
  • Set up a station with individually bagged treats for kids to take
  • Wash hands before handling treats

Wear a mask. A costume mask is not a substitute for a cloth mask. Do not wear a costume mask over a cloth mask, as it could make breathing more difficult. Instead, make your cloth mask part of your costume. Masks should not be worn by children under the age of two or anyone who has trouble breathing.
