Yesterday was a monumental day! The nation's first female and the first African-South Asian American Vice-President took her place in history. Kamala Harris wore purple in honor of the first African American women elected to the U.S. Congress and the first to run for President of the United States, Shirley Chisholm. Her inauguration wardrobe was created by Christopher John Rogers and Sergio Hudson, two Black designers.

Putting the icing on the cake, Kamala Harris was escorted by celebrated Capital Police Officer Eugene Goodman, whose quick thinking led the angry pro-Trump mob away from the Senate chambers during the DC riot, where Vice President Mike Pence and his family had been escorted to safety.

Harris used the bible of the late Thurgood Marshall, the first African American Supreme Court Justice. Finally, she was sworn in by the first Latina Supreme Court Justice, Sonia Sotomayor. What a moment!
