Starting today on May 1, 2020, all employees must wear face masks if they come in contact with the public.

Governor Edwards mandated this requirement when he extended the stay-at-home order. KSLA news station in Shreveport decided to hit the streets today and see if people were abiding by the face mask requirement.

They went to about a dozen places including grocery stores, drug stores, home improvement stores, and big box stores. They discovered most of these places already have specific policies in place for their employees to stay safe with masks, sanitizers, disinfectants, and gloves.

They also spoke to customers and the response was positive, with most of them understanding why this mandate was put in place.

The one alarming takeaway from Edwards face mask requirement is that disobeying the governor's order could lead to a misdemeanor carrying a penalty of up to $500 dollars and six months in jail.
