There is just something horribly wrong and absolutely hilarious about satire pages. They typically stay anonymous, but that leaves them to freely just go hard on whatever they are choosing to make fun of. Much like the celebrity roasts of the past, satire pages just go for the jugular at times and show no mercy. That seems to be the case with a satire page called "The City of Lake Charles".

I remember a few months back, I ran across a very strange post about Lake Charles and it made me giggle. My mouth DROPPED when I saw that it was from "The City of Lake Charles". I was confused at first, but then realized it was a satire page that was made by someone NOT affiliated with the city. At first, their posts were sorta capitalizing on that fact. People began tagging the page to complain about different things around the city. Whoever runs it would fire right back at them and then post their reaction messages. Call me sick and a horrible human being, but man I just think that's pretty funny. For those of you rolling your eyes in disgust, remember, "prank" shows have been around forever and this is essentially the exact same thing.

Normally, I would have no reason to write about a page like this. Recently, the random satire page did something I didn't expect to happen. It seemed to bring together some of the city as it focused on something together. I have seen comments from people that I KNOW for a fact have gone at each other in Facebook groups laugh and comment on the same post. I have seen people use this page as an outlet to let out their frustrations with life in general, but are able to stay anonymous. The page took the recent events involving the "painted wall" located downtown and used it as an opportunity for people to post their own version of what they would put there. The ideas just kept on coming, and most of them I can't show you on our own website. I will warn you, the wording and saying are nowhere NEAR appropriate for little eyes and ears!

Notice above those pictures, the actual post from the page. Now, wait, that doesn't seem like a super hardcore "hate" page. That actually seems like someone who cares about the area, just not the dumb stuff that goes on. As more and more people submitted their own version of "The Wall", the page made things more interesting by holding a contest.

Pixel and Ink Creative IS a Lake Charles-based company. She's local and is offering her services to this random silly contest. Upper Echelon Creations is ALSO a Lake Charles locally owned place. Rachelle's Design Space? Guess what? Yep, also local. I pride myself on knowing local businesses and of course, encouraging others to do the same. However, I had never heard of Upper Echelon nor Rachelle's Design Space. Did an "evil" satire place just help advertise for local businesses through a random dumb contest? Yes! Wait, there's more!

In the past 48 hours, word has gotten out about our Lake Charles Fire Department and their working conditions and wages. They are working hard to get their voice heard and to get things changed. This, once again, evil satire page shared a post about our local firefighters and the fact they make $11.17 as a starting pay! This is no joke, it wasn't made to be a joke, they are simply just sharing these facts. That post along garnished 45 comments and grew. It brought awareness of a problem that some may not have even been aware of. It even gave one of the union reps from the Lake Charles Fire Department to speak in the comments in order to verify that it was indeed a correct post.

Think all you want about them being rude and crude. Mostly, because most of the jokes are, but when I see someone like this also doing a bit of good while they take jabs, I gotta say bravo to them. If their humor isn't your thing, then you can just "block" them and unfollow them. I am sure they won't be offended.
