The Louisiana State Police (LSP) Troop D conducted a DWI checkpoint on Thursday, May 31, from 8 p.m. - 2 a.m. at an undisclosed location in Calcasieu Parish, with the mission “to detect and arrest impaired drivers before they cause injury or death to themselves or others".

The Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office and the Sulphur Police Department also participated in the sobriety checkpoint on US 90 near Sulphur. The checkpoint resulted in 6 DWI arrests, including 1 DWI with child endangerment of a seven-year-old child in a vehicle.

Other citations and arrests included (5) charges of possession of Marijuana, (1) possession/use of Paraphernalia, (1) open alcoholic beverage container, (2) no Driver's license, (2) driving under suspension, (6) Motor Vehicle Inspection, (1) Careless Operation, (4) Insurance notice of violation (1) No Insurance, and (1) Improper Lane Usage. - LSP Media Release
